Wrapping day. Having saved up those convenient huge boxes from the few things we needed after the studio move, they're being put to good use. I use old sheets to cover the painting face and then make corner protectors from cardboard. After that, I cut a huge box to fit and then tie the sides in with very inexpensive ribbon. It’s immensely strong and wraps and unwraps for exhibition time and time again. Good thing really, these babies will move through 10 exhibitions! Either the originals, or if sold, their prints, will travel the length of England. The Exhibitions calendar is in the left toolbar.
Final prepping for Open To All exhibition this month
Ah, like the Royal Academy varnishing days of old, I’m varnishing very close to time for showing! Unfolding is almost ready to go with the next step being the gold rub on the sides. We show starting September 24th at St James Newcastle right in the city centre. All 13 works will be there until the end of October. The whole calendar is being prepared as I write.
Released for Sale - Darkness is as Light
Here we are www.elizabethgrayking.com/darkness-is-as-light. This is a painting from history which still rings true. It would be wonderful in a church, community centre, faith based counseling centre and more. It is a way to think of our own histories and to move to believe the potential of those histories being named and disarmed, no longer damaging our present or future.
Cathedrals and Churches Exhibitions
I’m delighted to say that we are in deep conversation with a range of large city centre Churches as well as a number of Cathedrals in addition to Coventry to begin our Open Table Network/EGK exhibition series in September this year. We’ll start in the Northeast. September is soon upon us and is in equal measure exciting and nerve wracking (!). Here is OTN’s message on their website. Below is another painting which will be on display - One.

A moment from a digital painting to be revealed in July
From closed to open and welcoming; here are hands from a moment in a large digital painting for worship to be revealed at the United Reformed Church General Assembly which starts at the end of this month. Other moments note generostity, gathering, prayer, connecting and so much more. Do look out for them all if you are there and come back here at the beginning of July to see the whole thing.
Watch this space - Exhibition works releasing for sale
It’s time. This small human begins to grin, realising that I’ve only just noticed I have to do this.
After many years (eons?) I’ve saved back some of my paintings for exhibitions only. I shape my exhibitions around conversations I hope may happen from them and therefore save a good number of my paintings for such chatting. Now that I have an excellent fine art printer, I have given myself permission to exhibit a painting quality print rather than an original for the sake of such conversations. Over this year and next, I will now be releasing a painting or two every month for sale. My appeal to you if you would like to buy one is to imagine it living in a space where people can have conversations from it. They somehow support very difficult conversations in spaces which feel safe because my images don’t blast you, but gently suggest a variety of viewpoints. Think hospices, retreat centres, community spaces, faith based buildings, counselling centres and more. Could a conversation piece on the wall help the work you do? Watch this space.
